Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions engineers ask when specifying, installing and servicing Nopassy blowers.
What is the maximum temperature an air-knife can handle?
Aluminum knives: up to 80 °C continuous. Type 303 stainless: 200 °C. Type 316 stainless: 427 °C. For higher temperatures specify the high-temperature kit with heat-resistant fittings and reinforced gaskets.
How do I size the blower for an air-knife system?
Multiply knife length by 2.9 SCFM/inch at 80 PSIG for compressed-air knives. For blower-driven systems, select a centrifugal or side-channel blower delivering the required airflow at working pressure, with a 20% margin for future load increases.
What is the difference between Standard, Super and Coanda air-knives?
All three use the Coanda principle. Standard knives: 30:1 amplification, cost-effective. Super knives: 40:1 amplification, 69 dBA, uniform force across the full length. Coanda knives are for tight spaces where air must wrap around curved surfaces.
How often should I clean an air-knife?
Weekly in dirty environments, monthly in clean rooms. Disconnect supply, wipe the slot with a soft cloth, and inspect the Coanda surface for nicks. A damaged Coanda surface causes airflow instability and lost drying performance.
Can air-knives replace compressed-air blow-off?
Yes, in most cases. Blower-driven air-knives use 1/3 the energy of compressed-air nozzles for the same blow-off force, run quieter (69 dBA vs 100+ dBA), and cut plant air demand by up to 70%.
