How Nopassy Blowers Move Air

Roots Blower — Positive Displacement
Two figure-8 rotors counter-rotate in a sealed housing. Air is trapped between rotor lobes and the casing, then pushed from inlet to outlet without internal compression.
Centrifugal Blower — Dynamic Compression
A high-speed impeller accelerates gas radially outward. Kinetic energy converts to pressure in the volute (scroll-shaped diffuser).
Air-Knife System — Laminar Curtain Drying
A blower pressurises the plenum; the air-knife slots the air into a flat, laminar curtain (≤ 0.1 mm thick) at 30–50 m/s. Water droplets are sheared off the surface without contact.
Engineering Q&A
Which blower type should I choose?
Match the blower to your pressure/flow target on the chart below. Roots: low pressure (≤0.8 bar) + high flow + oil-free. Centrifugal: medium-high pressure, VFD speed range. Side channel: small flow + medium pressure + quiet. Magnetic-levitation: oil-free bearing, long service intervals.
Compare Product LinesCan I run a Roots blower against a closed valve?
No. Roots blowers have no internal relief — dead-heading will overheat the rotors within 30–60 s and destroy bearings. Always install a pressure-relief valve sized at 110 % of working pressure, or a by-pass loop back to the inlet silencer.
How often should I change the bearing?
Every 8 000 – 12 000 operating hours for side-channel and Roots units; every 20 000+ hours for high-speed centrifugal (direct-drive). Use vibration analysis every 6 months to confirm — readings above 4.5 mm/s RMS mean re-grease or replace.
What's the lead time for a custom OEM unit?
Stock Roots blowers ship in 7 days. Custom colour, voltage, ATEX, or inverter integration add 10 – 20 working days. For OEM > 50 units we accept blanket orders with phased delivery over 6 months.
